on the fence, I might give this 3 1/2 starts. it does what is was expected to do. the price was good. but it has a lot of little quarks that add up to frustration.
It is a DVD player for the car. on that note it is nice. i can play music dvds and get great sound in my car. I can play all my music from the usb/sd slot, very convenient. things that i wanted in the unit.
It leaves a lot to be desired. navigation is a pain. the front buttons are touch sensitive, sometimes it missed a press, sometimes you press the wrong one!. all text on screen is ridiculously small, therefore navigating mp3 folders while driving is a joke and becomes a life or death activity. I just dont do it and leave it on random, which btw gets reset every time you change modes. it is a dvd player, presumably for watching movies, has 5.1 sound connections but 5.1 is NOT decoded!!!. its just stereo, why? the usb cover is impossible to remove, maybe if you have long stiff nails, i had to use a tool. I thought there was supposed to be a screensavervisualisation for the screen, all i see is a power acoustik logo plastered on screen (unless watching a video). I could forgive all the faults if it had 5.1 output...
Smooth operation, minor details should be fixed via firmware, This unit performs very well with a lot of common audio formats, MP3, MP4, WMV, among others. Common video formats are also playable, as Divx, Mpeg and Avi. Fast read of CD's, DVD's, USB flash units, SD / Micro SD (using an adapter) not sure if the unit is compatible with SDHC class 6 or 10 (soon i will test this kind of flash cards and update this review). The screen is very bright and shows an excellent resolution, at full screen, 16:9 or 4:3 view, you can watch without problems any movie at the middle of a sunny day.
Pros:
- Easy installation, all cables properly arranged with good quality connectors and isolation.
- Easy load of CD's and DVD's, fast reading of both class of media, even RW.
- Fast contents reading of USB flash drives, from 2Gb to 8Gb.
- Radio is very sensitive tuning distant stations, FM1 to FM3 memory slots (like 6+ stations saved at each slot) AM haves 1 only.
- Dedicated subwoofer connection.
- Very clear audio output, no distortion or noise detected.
- No dead pixels present in the screen.
- Iconic display of present devices, SD, CD/DVD, USB.
- Simple screen saver (color exchanging like 1 minute shift) when using audio from any of the sources.
- Medium size wireless IR remote controller with a lot of functions included, slim form factor.
- Detachable Faceplate.
- USB Port is powered, can be used to charge USB devices like bluetooth earphones, cellphones (nokia for example) without affecting the unit. No errors until now.
- Unit Suitable for offroad use, even driving on non paved roads, with repeated vibration, CD's and DVD's perform very well without noticeable skipping. Personally i prefer to use digital
content instead of optical, load is faster and not affected by vibration.
The Acoustic Power, This radio is very strong and has an excellent picture.It has many features including a slot for a sd card.The price on this stereo is very good,and easy to install.If you hook up a amp make sure you go into the menu option and turn on the subwoofer feature, Thanks again for this great stereo.
sucks, cd player did work. didnt have sub woofer setting. now its making weird sound in the speakers with out any music playin.
Crap, Bought this unit for my birthday and thought it was a high quality piece it turned on but cd didn't work and installed the antenna and. Nothing wasted my connectors for this piece of junk maybe I just got a deffected one idk but sent it back for a boss DVD player that was the same price. The graphics looks like the 8 bit nintendo which was cool cause it was gonna b installed in my festiva. Stear clear if installing in a new car get a pioneer or ken wood wayyyyy better.
GARBAGE, i bought it from amazon JUST GARBAGE the dvd player did not work .
