Solid performance expectations met I bought this item in october 2011 and had it professionally installed for 150$ It does everything as described and expected the voice dialing uses your phones voice recognition system so keep it out and speak when the phone is ready not when the head says to other than that everything is very user friendly and works flawlessly. I have the ipod hookups and it loads quickly. There are reviews of this item that are negative but I think that is more of a user issue than the equipment having issues. I have used it for more than a month now and it does take some getting used to the format of the menus and related options but this is a complicated piece of electronic with tons of features. Oh and I had the steering wheel controls hooked up and that is a must!Five stars! great price huge screen detachable face great sound! pro sound adjustment on twelve different bandwidths there are three adjustments for the less savvy listeners in the standard screen plenty of input and output options.

A few additional points Just a few additional points to what is already listed in the reviews here.1. This unit IS buggy. It isn't necessarily evident often in day to day use but if some feature be it bluetooth iphone functions or even the mic don't work right for some reason simply power cycle both the car and the iphone to ensure you aren't just looking at a one time issue. I spent more than my fair share of time wondering what i was doing wrong when it was just the system being weird. It would then work PRISTINELY the very next moment.2. Combine the above with the fact that the menu system isnt the most intuitive and it can often be a pain to troubleshoot. Think of this as your hometheater receiver WITHOUT the ability to get to the back panel to check the connections once installed and you can get my drift. Not hugely complicated just more so than it should be.3. Thought I'd try a USB hub even though it doesn't say it supports it. No dice on two different hubs.Overall I am very happy with my purchase. Found this local to me at just 400 bucks. Good sound though it took some heavier than I'd like EQ'ing. The mainly BUTTONLESS look is awesome in my MBZ. Very clean. I will likely never use the detachable face but cool anyway. I retained steering wheel controls and bypassed the parking break requirement all pretty easy. Overall very happy.Last thought The best part of the whole unit for me isnt even the unit itselfits my newfound ability to rock Pandora Mog Grooveshark or Spotify in my car! Mog is my personal fave right now though Spotify is a very close second. Imagine ANY SONG YOU WANTEVER..and you get the idea.
very Good very nice item. bluetooth works excellent. its my second JVC touch screen unit. im replacing my former model for the new one. they work great and also good value. the only issue is that this model does not come with the remote control. i didnt notice that till i received the box. lack of information.

Great concept but buggy This is my email to JVC after two weeks with this unit.Dear JVCI want to report to you that all the debugging and testing that you did NOT do on the JVC KWAVX840 Really irritated me and cost me a lot of personal time the past two weeks. You probably have a dozen or so emails from my iPhone plus half a dozen phone calls trying to get a straight answer on how to use motionX with this receiver. The closest thing I got to an answer was oh gee you plug it in and it works. Well I can safely tell you after many hours of emails to you and MotionX. Phone calls to JVC tearing my car apart for a week and finally purchasing a new unit thinking mine was defective that this does not work. Forgive me for expecting you to actually test the interface on all the products you are advertising. Especially the top end model from JVC. Honestly it would not bother me nearly as much if this was not the main feature I see advertised on web sites. Even the local store I bought my 2nd 840 at said he did not know how it worked and of course there is no mention of this in the manual. No one at your customer service center knows how to work this unit. And the phone calls I have been promised from supervisors have not happened.Here is another thing that Does Not Work. The Subwoofer output. Does not put a signal out.Nice haves would be.Do something to show off the nice screen. Big beautiful screen why can't I watch the EQ bounce? It goes to sleep mode. Thats the big feature all the information disappears after ten seconds. Hmm not sure I get that decision.Why does it have a NAVI setting. You don't offer a navi add on. Is his where motion X is supposed to show up? It doesn't. It only shows up In AV and that is without sound.I have heard that you cannot use USB in dual mode. This is not a feature I care about no back seat but in my long search for answers this seemed to be an issue for others.The clock does not seem to auto set via radio with HD plugged in.Now in the intetest of being fair here are some things That work good.Blue tooth integration. Wow awesome interface including phone book. I wish it would show multiple numbers for people or at least give multiple entries for them but overall nice job.Ipod integration is great! Works really good.Touch screen is very nice and works well.Radio tunes nicely. Good signal strength.blutooth player works well with pandora. Although it does not pull in titles etc from my iphone.The sound is Great! The Eq offers great adjustment features.
